Breast Cancer

According to the American Cancer Society,
"the chance of a woman having invasive breast
cancer some time during her life is about 1 in 8.
The chance of dying from this breast cancer is
about 1 in 33.  Breast cancer death rates are
going down.  This decline is probably the result
of finding the cancer earlier and improved
treatment."

This cancer does not discriminate - it affects
both women and men, regardless of age, race,
or any other factor.

The ACS estimates that some 180,000 women
will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer
this year and that another 40,500 will die from
the disease.  These estimates do not include
the men who are affected every year.

The key to battling this cancer is through more research.  It is a sad reality that additional funding for research efforts is becoming more and more difficult to attain.  Please consider supporting this cause in any way you prefer, but also consider this easy solution:

Breast Cancer Semi-Postals are valid United States postage stamps for First-Class mail.  These stamps are valid for the first-ounce rate (this means that each semi-postal stamp is currently worth $0.42 of First-Class postage).  Each stamp currently costs $0.55.  The $0.13 difference between price and postage rate benefits nationally-funded breast cancer research programs.  For each pane of 20 semi-postals at their current price and rate, $2.60 goes towards funding research.

Purchase these special United States postage stamps here: Breast Cancer Semi-Postals or at your local Post Office.
