Breast Cancer
According to the American Cancer Society, "the chance of a woman having invasive breast cancer some time during her life is about 1 in 8.  The chance of dying from this breast cancer is about 1 in 33.  Breast cancer death rates are going down.  This decline is probably the result of finding the cancer earlier and improved treatment."

This cancer does not discriminate - it affects women and men, regardless of age, race, or any other factor.

The ACS estimates that some 180,000 women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer
this year and that another 40,500 will die from the disease.  These estimates do not include the men who are affected every year.
This picture is of my grandparents, Jesse and Marilyn Goodis, at the University of Pittsburgh's Magee Women's Hospital in the winter of '06-'07.  Marilyn Goodis passed away of end-stage breast cancer on February 21, 2007.

This video was created in the United Kingdom.  Though it is not a perfect film in terms of production quality and such, it does present a very important message.

Those affected by breast cancer need your support.  Those who are fighting it, those who have one the fight, and those who have not all need your help.  Their friends and families bear a great burden.

Every year, thousands upon thousands are personally affected by breast cancer.  Men and women, husbands and wives, sons and daughters, grandfathers and grandmothers - no one is spared.

I encourage you to watch a youtube video entitled "Breast Cancer Awareness Video" when you have the 80 seconds to spare.  It is another British production, and it contains some images that may be upsetting to young children, but it will certainly keep your attention.  With any luck, it is not something you will quickly forget.

Please consider giving this video a quick watch.  If you don't like the music, just set it to mute and watch the words.

Always remember
You can help.
